Antique Spelter Lamp of European Soldier, Late 19th Century. European uniformed soldier, costume circa 1740s, mounted as a table lamp.  Fine spelter figure was probably cast in the last quarter of the 19th century after an original.  Patina looks like perfectly aged bronze.  Base is foundry marked "RP & WH Gibson, publishers."  Commission this stately figure to guard your home office, or assign him to the study beside a chair to keep the peace.
