Vintage Distressed Painted Blue Cabinet with Iron Hinges. Try as you will, small side chests like this one are difficult to find. Upon close inspection, a seasoned antiquer might say this is a "marriage" of old and new. The doors, hand-fashioned iron hinges and closure appear to be original...with a carefully constructed cabinet added later. We think it could become a stow place for toys, dolls, a collection of tin containers--so many possibilities. Let the color palette from electric to powder gray blues be your guide.

Antique Chinese Lacquered Chest . Perfect for a lady's accessories or the gentleman's haberdashery, this little Asian chest epitomizes the quintessential. Actual age of this piece is difficult to discern, perhaps 60 years old. The drawers are remarkable in that their sizes diminish towards the top.
It could also be used for entertaining as the drawers pull out so far. Great for dispensing cloth napkins or storing service pieces.
FYI: It's a great height to sit beside that wingback chair that needs a companion.
Approximate dimensions: HxWxD: 29 1/2" x 10 1/2"x 19 3/8"

Antique English Gothic Style Trunk/Blanket Chest in Oak. Extremely old oak chest with shallow relief carvings of pinwheels and a cross on front. Hardware is all hand wrought from iron. Crude dovetails hold the sides together. Shrinkage details and rudimentary construction could place this as an orignal Jacobean piece. Feet are perhaps replaced as most are, but the overall chest is intact, less wormholes. Origin is probably England or northern France. These chests traditionally held a bride's dowry.

Antique Scandinavian Painted Blanket Chest. Perfect used hearthside for a nice settle by the fire and to stow supplies, it's equally nice to rest your duvet on at the foot of your bed. The colors are sublte as some can be rather garrish...rust, soft greens and cream. While it has obvious age, perhaps late 19th century, the 18th century painted date is likely the creation of an early faux finisher.
Approximate Dimensions: 55"L X 26"W X 24"H

Antique Louis XV Style walnut and gilt metal mounted bombe chest/commode with marble top. Beautiful decorative piece for an elegantly appointed interior. French in inspiration, this chest is accented with ornately carved pulls of acanthus leaves, serpentine shapes, and shells. Regal ladies' faces look out from the sides of the chest and the feet are stylized paws. Beautifully carved marble top with triple bevel, scalloped edge. Marble appears to be a rosa brescia marble with hints of terra cotta, mustards, and rose.

Antiques from the reign of George I of England are very rare. This particular king ruled for a very short time(13 years), thus pieces that strictly came from that time are scarce. It has been lovingly restored, but the finish is not new by any means. Two chests of "two over three" drawers nestle perfectly together. The older brasses suit the piece well, too. It's a very fine acquisition for a new collector or an avid one.

Antique French Armoire/ Chest on Chest. For those whose hearts lie in the countryside of France, we bring this lovely armoire. It dates conservatively to the first quarter of the nineteenth century. The primary wood is solid walnut; the secondary wood is pine. It has been restored and lovingly refinished. It is an oil finish with gently handrubbed effects. The carving is impeccable, replete with scrolling intact, sunflower motifs and gracious fluting. It houses a full screen TV perfectly. Or use the generous heavy shelving to store pantry goods, table top items, etc. This luscious antique would MAKE any well appointed room!

Antique Belle Epoque Period Inlaid Wood Commode Chest. With antiques and collectables, sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs. Well, this charming commode is definitely that one handsome prince! It probably originated in Italy around 1910. The inlay incorporates mixed fine hardwoods and dore'ed bronze ormolus. The details are remarkable and the lustre of the woods makes it one of the loveliest pieces we offer.
Approximate dimensions: 38.5" wide by 18" deep by 33" tall

Antique French Provincial Fruitwood Commode. An excellent opportunity for our French country enthusiasts. Elements of this chest suggest it originated in France in the last quarter of the 18th century. The expert oil finish may be a recent change, albeit, this piece will satisfy even discriminating eyes. Heavy brasses are definitely suited to the period with cherubs and sunflowers. The feet are unusual cabriole cloven hooves. It's apron is scalloped and intact, as so many of these were destroyed by furniture worms. From a designer's standpoint, this is a win-win because it not only fills the bill as an antique, it is also quite practical for use, considering it's great state of repair.

|
18th Century Spanish Pine Inlaid Wood Secretary. This lovely piece is reputed to have belonged to a high ranking official of the Catholic church, perhaps a cardinal or a bishop long ago. The chief wood is pine inlaid with a lighter unknown wood. While the interior is much newer, the secretary is rare and almost entirely intact. Motifs include crosses and orbs as well as sacred hearts. Expert rail, panel and stile construction is used throughout. For the real collector or a serious novice, this secretary is a hands down, thumbs up!
