Antique Painted Fauteuil a la Reine. En Francais, this chair is fit for the queen, and indeed it is. Fashioned well over a century ago, this perfect chair would fit nicely in a lady's study beside a desk or next to a vanity. It's great for that assistant to take minutes or dictation, too. What looks to be the original "french grey" paint peeks out from a later application of creamy ivory antiquing. There is peeling which some collectors love, but a savvy purist could carefully take the piece back to the original color--just a thought. It is upholstered in a powder blue antique velvet which lends a boudoir feel to the chair. As purchased or restored, it is a lovely addition to any fine home.
