Antique Painting of Pansies, Oil Painting on Canvas, mid 19th Century English. Botanically correct pansies fill the canvas of this early English oil.  The original stretcher still houses the painting which most fanciers would deem a prize possession.   While modern pansies and violas come in hybrid colors, this painting celebrates original strains of white, deep purple and yellow.   Silver gilt frame balances well with the deep tones of the piece.   Use alone or en masse with other florals for impact.
