This likeness of the blessed virgin would compliment any collection of Christian relics.  She has worn patina which can be imitated, but never duplicated.  We offer this statue in "as is" condition due to some flaking behind the figure.


Approximate Dimensions:   HxWxD: 26"x6"x6 1/2" 		This pair of decoys have not been used, but they are made for use or display.  Painted by Cedar Run, New Jersey artist, John Hamilton in the latter part of the 20th century, they are both hand made and bear a striking resemblance to the living species.   Single decoys are more readily available, but a mated pair like this are more difficult to come by.  They look handsome on a preppy mantle, in bookcases, or just perched practically anywhere.  A bracket or shelf in the mudroom looks swell with decoys to survey the wading boots and rain hats!

Black Pug Iron Door Stop.  We love dogs at Churchill including any art form which depicts dogs!  We have a large collection which we have found across the US and Europe.  All have their original paint, and a great decorative item for the home.  We have many more usages for our doggies than just door stops.  We put them on mantels, tables, and even hang jewelry on our pups.  We stack bracelets around our dog's neck giving our pet the best of collars! Antique Chinese Temple Figure with original paint elements in gilt and terra cotta.  Carved icon is seated with crossed legs and hands in prayer.  Figure measures approx 8" tall.  At Churchill, we group several of these icons on desktops, tabletops, and fireplace mantels.

Antique Pair of Neo-Classic Style Patinated Bronze Caryatid Candlesticks. These Greco-Roman inspired caryatid candlesticks have surely graced many lovely homes.  The bronze figures are attached to natural, muted red marble bases.  They could house candles, of course, or even be fitted as electrical lamps with little difficulty.  If you are the lucky custodian, enjoy them with abandon!

Like Chinese tombs and temples, any grand entrance needs a guardian.  This august fellow will lend an aire of protection to any space.  He stands approximately 23" high, 8" wide (Base is 7" in diameter).    Polychromed finish is still mostly intact with rich red and gold.  Wood has a deep walnut tone.  Originally, he held perhaps a spear, which he must have weilded at an ominous approacher. Antique 18th Century Chinese Carved Wooden Buddha Figure. Wooden icon figures from this period are next to impossible to find.  Floods, fires, and plundering have long since depleted these treasured objects.  They were created for personal shrines and familial worship areas, many times in tombs.  Reaching the Vairocana on an ancestor's behalf could help insure they're success in the afterlife.  Karma points are also achieved.  Interestingly, carved objects like this were not necessarily to be "read, viewed, or worshipped," oddly as it may sound.   It is enough that they exist in this rhealm.  Today, use them wherever you need a kind spirit.  This special piece could raise the most blighted to absolute nirvana.  Note:  This figure rests on a linen covered museum quality stand.

Japanese Bronze Koi Decorated Vessel/Jardiniere. Good bronzes take on a patina over time that defies explanation.  Some areas are brown, others gray, green, etc. The colors are arranged by Nature to splendid perfection.  That describes the surface of this handsome vessel.  Swimming koi surround the central sphere which is supported by a sturdy base.  One caution, this vessel has no bottom, perhaps destroyed over time.  It would be ideal to rig as a water feature, with water circulating into a reception pond.  Or, merely enjoy it for the work of art that it is....  Age is difficult to discern, but the casting is impeccably smooth, with a couple gentle bruises here and there.  It  closely resembles antique pieces from the Shang Dynasty (China).

Fine antique items of wood from China are disappearing from the marketplace.  Figures that "look" old are everywhere.   Genuine articles are protected by the State. The reason being is that wood, having an ephemoral nature, decays quickly when left to the elements.  Thus, to obtain old treasures, as pictured, you must seek out reputable dealers.  This piece came to us by way of Paris--a dealer we've used for years.  At one time, this tomb guardian perhaps wielded a spear, which is missing.  Otherwise, the general condition is excellent.  Touches of chocolate brown, cream and terracotta paint mingle to extraordinary effect.  Use this fine example as a fierce desk accessory,  impressive mantle decor, or anywhere that needs charm and protection.   We keep him away from direct sunlight or halogen lighting.  You can be his next custodian.

Antique Austrian Cold Painted Bronze Dog. Charming and  highly collectable, this beautiful cold painted bronze dog epitomizes good taste.  This lovely canine stands equally proud in a serious collection or  at home on the most well appointed of desks.  This piece is unmarked, as many older Austrian bronze figures were, yet it is likely produced by the Bergman facility in the latter 19th to early 20th century.  Could be a greyhound, whippet, or scottish deerhound. Native American Kachina Figure, Hopi Tribe. Kachinas, or tihu as they are called in the Hopi language, embody things important to the survival of their tribe, like fertility, grain, clouds, rain, etc.  This one is known as a dancing kachina, denoted by the rattle he carries.  Objects like this were given to children, not as toys, but rather as the precious benevolent beings they represent.  Kachinas, like bohdisattvas in the Buddhist faith, bring only good to those who keep them.  This one is museum quality to become a treasured addition for a new or existing collector, or anyone in need of a benevolent spirit.
