Antique French Provencial Walnut Salt Box. Admirers of French country--here's a find for you. We offer this lovely old walnut salt box. It hails from the 19th century, post 1830. Cabriole legs have broken, and they have been re-glued. It appears to have been used often and well. Classical lines are reminiscent of row houses in Holland. In fact, this type of salt box is where the architectural term came from for salt box houses. Hang it with butter and chocolate molds for chief effect.
